What this is, and what it isn't

Editorial method

Every number comes from a named authority and is recorded in the citation ledger with its capture date. Where government and industry figures diverge, we publish both and mark the divergence rather than choosing a side.

Charts encode every series with colour and a second channel — texture, line style, or direct label — so they remain readable without colour vision. Each has a data-table equivalent.

The simulator is arithmetic on published coefficients. It is not a model of the sugar market and should never be quoted as a forecast.

Where a figure is derived rather than published, it is marked as derived — in the chart, in the data table, and in the ledger. The site would rather show its working than look more certain than it is.

Who made this

Sanket Tambare — a developer and data engineer in Pune, working on ETL and delivery-metrics pipelines by trade, and a NAST Fellow at The Takshashila Institution, researching citizen agency in AI governance.

The fellowship is named here rather than left out: it is a public-policy affiliation on a site about public policy, and you should be able to weigh it. Beyond it, this project has no institutional backing. It was not commissioned, funded or reviewed by any employer, think tank, department, industry body or company named in these pages, and nobody was shown a draft. Every figure’s authority, publication date and archive state is published in the citation ledger, with checksums for the data files, so the working can be checked rather than taken on trust.
